In February of 1964, Grandmaster Kim Soo established the Korean Taekwon-Karate Academy in Seoul, Korea. As a third generation master, Kim Soo is the first person who opened his own professional dojang near the central govenment building (Jung Ang Cheong). The academy was also very close to Korean presidental residence, Blue House.

The address was Chongro-Ku, Tong Ui-Dong, Seoul, Korea. He taught at this location until December of 1967, then let one of his students run it. The school moved around a few times. During the middle of 1980, the school was closed.

Grandmaster Kim visited KTA with John Coon in 1973 and then again with Master Conrad Pickens in 1978. He produced approximately 30 black belts at this location.
